The AAMC Center for Health Justice
The Association for American Medical Colleges’s (AAMC) Center for Health Justice is a think tank, convener, and collaborative hub dedicated to tackling persistent political, economic, and social inequities and injustices in the United States. In the AAMC’s 10-point strategic plan, the Center is the cornerstone of the ninth Action Plan (AP) to position the AAMC as a national leader in health equity and health justice. The Center launched in September 2021 with a dedicated website and promotional video.
The Center’s Microsite
The Center was defining its purpose, communications plans, and infrastructure as AAMC’s Digital Experience Team was developing a templated solution for all AAMC microsites. We had a three-month turnaround time between project discovery and the final launch of the Center; we “built the plane while flying.”
What I Did:
Defined the site’s information architecture.
Created a project schedule for content development.
Developed content templates and outlines.
Edited all text appearing on the site.
Led selection of images with input from subject matter experts.
The Center’s Promotional Video
While building the Center’s website, the AAMC’s leadership desired a promotional video that would highlight the Center’s purpose and objectives while adhering to its nascent brand identity. I worked with AAMC’s Digital Content Producer to create the 1:00 minute video.
What I Did:
Wrote the script for the proof of concept we presented to stakeholders to gain buy-in.
Edited the second script produced by AAMC’s AP Communications Lead for AP9.
Worked with the Digital Team’s Digital Content Producer and Video Specialist on casting for 39 roles.
Provided rounds of feedback about how to optimize the look and feel of the video as well as its messaging.
